Huh? If I change my entry for bin in /etc/passwd from 3:3 to 0:0, files that used to be owned by "bin" will now be owned by "3" (as shown on, say, an ls -l display). There's more to it than editing /etc/passwd (which I leave to the reader as an exercise)
