Randomness of MSC 5.1 rand()

How good (i.e. random) is the rand() function in MSC 5.1/QC 2.0?
Press, Flannery, Teukolski, and Vetterling of "Numerical Recipies
in C" fame caution the reader to be "very, very suspicious" of any
system-supplied rand() function.  Does anybody have any comments on
Microsoft's rand() function?
