When will these exercises in futility end?  How many time have we
seen the `my hack beats the library routine' postings?  And, how
many times have we seen such misguided claims proved to be false?

Too many times!

It should be obvious that there are too many variables in these
situations and that generic statements will be found to be false
for some large number of cases.  Apples and oranges...
