According to andrew at csd4.csd.uwm.edu (Andy Biewer):
>A point was made that I was wasting money and network resources
>by posting that one letter because I didn't bother to look elsewhere.

You got that right.

>Well, my only response to that is, the weight of the amount of time
>that I use this thing for news is far less than it could potentially
>be for the amount of tax dollars and tuition I throw towards this state
>and the federal government for the support of the network.

This point of view is self-centered. Network resources are not the
issue; fetching one GNU program uses more network bandwidth than
several Usenet articles. That is what it's there for, after all.

The real issue is the thousands of programmers who spent twenty
seconds reading, and perhaps several minutes answering, a trivial
question that you wouldn't have needed to ask had you only Read The
Friendly Manual. And all your tuition and taxes won't pay for one
minute of one reader's time.

>Any further flames are a waste of time and should be directed
>to /dev/null.

In your dreams, perhaps...
