I need some people willing to beta test a one-pass, native code
Modula-2 compiler for the Unix PC. Testers are expected to USE it, and
report back any bugs and/or design suggestions. The compiler is based
on the ETH MC68K native code compiler, so the source is not public
domain. However, I can distribute binary copies for free. The library
source is public domain. Library modules include Arguments, CLibrary
(you can call C routines), Clock, Conversions, Coroutine, FileSystem,
InOut, MathLib0, Storage, Strings, and Terminal. The compiler produces
a COFF file which is given to `ld' for linking.

Beta test sites will get a binary release of the compiler and source
for the libraries (including the Makefile). Once stable, I'll make the
compiler available to anyone else who would like it (I'll announce it
in comp.sys.att and comp.lang.modula2). If interested in being a beta
test site, send me mail. If you can do an anonymous FTP on the
Internet, then the beta distribution can be fetched from
hotel.cis.ksu.edu (129.130.10.12) in pub/Unix/UnixPC/mod2+IN.Z. This is a
compressed "install software sent by email" file, so uncompress it, put
it in ~nuucp, and run "Install Software Sent by Electronic Mail" from
install's Admin/Software Setup menu. If you can't get it via anonymous
FTP, then I will send you a couple of installable floppies. Please
only request this if you are serious about testing it. Otherwise wait
for the first public release. Once installed, documentation is in
/usr/local/lib/mod2/doc.
