We had the same problems with ST251-0 drives. Twisting the stepper motor shaft
from the underside of the drive with a finger-tip works ok,
and the twisting doesn't have to be more than a few degrees.
I worry about moving the heads from the parked position, but it's better
than going to a backup:-)
