kermit for the 7300

I downloaded everthing about 4 months ago from OK state and compiled it.
There were a couple of compilation problems that I took care of.  Everything
that I have tried seems to work except after I disconnect from the remote
system and issue the "bye" command, it comes back and tells me
that it has trouble hanging up the phone.  Sometimes it totally hangs my
machine requiring a boot to get it of its miseries.
Any ideas?
