HELP! Users can't log !SOLUTION

This problem was posted before, and the solution was to open op the
permissions on / (root). If users can't read root, then login
can't find the home directory. Apparently some tool is chmoding
root and causing this problem. Try this before reloading the system.
Since this is the second time someone has had this problem, is
is somthing in the system that is removing all others read permission
on root (probably thinking that it is its home directory as a user).
