Problems with SUN O/S 4.0.3 and uucp

Has anyone had problems with uucp between sun os 4.0.3 systems ?.  We get
and can send news just fine.  Our system goes thru negotiation
successfully, then it starts to transfer, gets alarms and the transfer
fails.  

The following is a partial trace of uucp with -X set to 9:
