dump(8) on the Exabyte (apunix) using no-rewind option ??

You don't have to rewind the exabyte tape. Just use the non-rewinding
device and everything will work OK. Since you got your drive from APUNIX,
why don't you use their mdump facility to dump multiple file systems onto
a single tape?
