SIGCLD support.

What is the current philosophy regarding SIGCLD? All the documentation I
currently have says that support for it is likely to disappear in some
future release and contains warnings to the effect that SIGCLD should no
longer be used. As it is the only way that one can "instantaneously"
detect the termination of a child process while doing something more
importnat than just waiting for it, it would be a real disappointment if
SIGCLD were really to disappear.
