|Our University has a small network of Sun3/50 and 60's and need to
|purchase a printer/laser.
|
|Requirements:
| 1. Postscript printing,
| 2. Student projects with Core and Phigs need printing
| capabilities (maybe screendump),
| 3. Color printing is NOT necessary,
| 4. Can be serially connected or use ethernet.
|
|We also have an Apple laser connected to our localtalk and have installed
|a Fastpath bridge which works fine.
|
|Questions:
| 1. What software/printers are available to do local
| printing, i.e. without the use of the apple laser.
| 2. What software can be considered if we were to use
| the apple laser through the fastpath connection.
|
|Any information will be appreciated, and since we are a university, a
|cheap solution is almost always preferred.

Sounds like if you purchase TOPS for Sun (available from a division of
Sun), that is all you need. It can spool (using one of your suns) and then
print to your apple laserwriter through the fastpath gateway.
