Sun Monitor Failure Survey Results

This is a summary of responses to my recent posting regarding problems
with Sun 3/80 monitors.  It was interesting to see the cross section of
responses from all over the world.  From what I can tell, this is a
problem common to Sun 3's and SparcStations using 19" mono monitors.
Since I'm not the sys admin for the site, all I'm doing is reporting the
results.  In my opinion Sun has a high failure rate on these monitors and
should be on the hook to replace them outside of maintenance contract.

I will be happy to mail the original reponses to anyone who requests them.

1.  Sun 3/80, 2nd monitor is showing the problem after having already 
    replaced the 1st.
2.  Thinks it is cable, rather than monitor itself.
3.  Experiencing the problem on a Sun 3/80, 19" mono.
4.  Experiencing the problem on SparcStations, 19" "ECL" Phillips monitors.
5.  2 SparcStations w/ 19" monitors showing screen flicker.
6.  SparcStation 1, 19" monitor.
7.  3/80 monitors, 20% failure rate for site.
8.  All 1280x1024 and 1600x1200 monitors do this, learn to live with it.
