4/280 Magtape to 4/490

We have access to a 4/280 which has a magtape drive. The sysadmin tells me
that the magtape has its own interface board on the VME bus. Would it be
possible to move the tape drive and the interface board to a 4/490?  Would
the magtape driver on the 4/490 recognize it? Does it have its own power
supply and can it be removed from the 4/280 rack panel?

Second question, Someone told the sysadmin of the 4/280 it needs to be in
a air-conditioned "computer room". True?
