Does anyone have information on the comparative performance of DOS-Windows
vs. SoftPC for ms-dos emulation on SPARCs. I have been using DOS-Windows
for a month or two and find it usable with some frustration for not fast
and not smooth mouse and keyboard handling. The overall speed seems to be
something between a PC/XT and a slow AT.

I have no experience with SoftPC for the SPARC by Insignia, but from their
literature it appears to have more features (notably, EGA support). If
you have any experience with SoftPC, please share your insights. I will
post a summary if the feedback warrants.

The Synergy 386 SBus card is another option that must be faster, but at
$1800-$2000 a copy it seems I could buy a complete stand-alone dos system
with monitor, hard drive, etc. for about the same price. I'm not sure
that the performance/convenience advatages are worth the price premium.

Thanks for your insight and assistance.
