Buying peripherals in the USA from Canada

My, my, the price of disks, tape drives etc. sure is cheaper in the good
ol' US of A than up here in Canada. I'd be interested in hearing from any
one who has experience in buying peripherals in the US and importing them
to the frozen north. What companies are interested in the business? Which
are willing to deal with border hassles, service and warranty requests,
etc.  Any horror stories? All info is appreciated.
