Accounting on Sys V

I am interested in setting up a good accounting system on a IBM RISC System/6000.
It uses the basic System V accounting structure (runacct, and associated programs
and scripts).
My problem is that it is rather incomplete in the summary reports.
We will have several software engineers working on several different projects.
Their development time for each project must be accounted for on the machines.
The only way I can do this with the present scheme is to give each of the
engineers several logins, one for each project. As you can guess, this is a royal
pain for everyone. Couldn't I just assign different groups for each project, and
have them change groups when they switch to a different project? Unfortunately,
the accounting software doesn't summarize the total group useage, though I know
that that information is placed int the raw accounting file when each command
is run.

So, Is there any public domain accounting system supplements out there, or does
anyone have some additional accounting programs or scripts to help keeping track
of several engineers working on several different projects simultaneously?

I am also interested in commercial accounting packages, so recommendations here
would be appreciated. Ease of configuration and use are important.
