Use of /dev/ltty?

The /dev/ltty node is a seperate entry point to the device driver for modem
contols. It gets created when you specify dvam=1 (remote) in devices. I use it
when setting my modem to auto answer:     

echo "ATS0=1\c\r" > /dev/ltty0
