CD-ROM & PCSIM

I've asked IBM about this through the Defect Support Hotline and it
eventually got passed back to my local SE. Now I'll give "the net"
a chance to help. Anyone who worked on the PCSIM and monitors this
group is invited to answer! :-)

When executing an 'ls' of a directory located on a CD-ROM under a UNIX
shell the files show up with a ";1" appended (or simlar). An example
is with the "info" disc (/usr/lpp/info/En_US/sys.sys;1). When executing
a 'dir' of the same directory under PCSIM, the file is listed, but naturally
without the ";1" (sys.sys). However, the PCSIM cannot access any files
from the CD-ROM. The error is something like "file not found".

So what? Well, I can create a file named "sys.sys;1" in another UNIX
directory (not a CD-ROM file system, of course) and execute a 'dir' from
PCSIM and the file is not displayed, as one would expect, because there
is no mapping for this file name.

So, now which piece is broken? Is it the CD-ROM file system? Is it
the PCSIM? Something entirely different?
