Can you buy another machine for $500 that provides a protected environment?
This stuff has nothing to do with the operating system? The APTR/BPTR stuff
is a pain, sure, but it's also a pretty minor part of the system: most
programs don't need to know about it. Only stuff that wants to dig through
DOS data structures, and most of those programs would have to be setuid
programs that dug into /dev/kmem on UNIX. Other than that, you're not going
to get better from a consumer machine, period.
