A/UX2 questions

We recently got A/UX2 which our dealer installed from their CD-rom which he
said was a beta-release, but identical to the final release we received a few
days later.
We don't have printed manuals, only the online man pages. If the information
is there, please direct me to the right place:

At the login screen, there are options to change the Session type. I can do
this for "This Session Only", but I can't change it every time.

When I log in with the 32-bit Finder, the speed is incredibly slow (we use a
IIci, 8 megs of RAM). Slower than a Mac Plus in fact. Could this have
something to do with the fact that when the Mac starts (or logs in) it
searches its discs for applications? We have lots of nfs cross-mounts and this
might be a reason for the excessive slowness. Other than that is the beta
release significantly slower than the distribution from Apple ?

I set up a LaserWriter using lpr for compatibility with our other machines
here, and set the option to printer accounting. This doesn't work. The file I
specified has the right permissions on it, but it remains empty.

Cheers,
david
