Peter,

this is not an official Intel position, but I have found that using the
DOS based versions of the 286 tools under a DOS emulator on SYSV works
much better than the XENIX emulation - and leverages off a much larger
marketplace than the obsolete XENIX versions.

Also, it might help, in the long run, to call your Intel sales office
and say that you want UNIX native versions of these tools available
(you've probably already done this, right?)

Compile times average 3-6x faster, DOS emulator vs. XENIX emulation.
