using vi via DOS comm software

I am using 386/ix 2.0.2 and was wondering if anyone out there is having
any luck using vi from a remote DOS/PC.  Is there something out there
that will handle function keys, ibm graphic characters, etc.?  Any help
would be greatly appreciated.
