Most likely it will, but I suspect the problem is more in your streams
configuration rather than ftp itself.  Installing the package requires
that you tune streams fairly carefully.

Until I upgraded a large TCP/IP site from 2.0.2 to 2.2 I had the 1.2
TCP/IP working fine; telnet rcp & ftp.  The only (!) problem I did have
was not being able to access more than 17 telnet sessions.  Attempting
to do so caused the WD8003 card to lock up and cause panic traps when
the system was being shut down.

This particular problem was solved shortly after 2.2 was installed.
