LPI Fortran - Help!

I have a major problem in using LPI Fortran on 386/ix (I am posting to
other groups as was as I understand that it is available on their
machines too). I am opening a device in Fortran and want to set all
its modes using a C function. I also want to open a fixed length text
file and seek to lines in it, for this I have to write a C function
that calls lseek.

My big problem is that I cannot match the Fortran unit numbers to
Unix file handles. Ie. If I open unit 10 it is actually Unix handle 3.

LPI Fortran seems to have remarkably little in the way of library
routines that will help; unlike Sun Fortran which is much better.

Help me!!!!!!!! (please)
