Ah, but swap space doesn't make any performance difference at all.
What happens is that one day you'll suddenly find all your swap space
in use and won't be able to execute any programs.  (V7 and other
UNIXes would simply "panic: out of swap" and crash; I don't know what
sVr3 does.)
