386 Paging Problem

Hi,

What experience have others had with virtual memory and page swapping on the
80386 chip? We have noted marked performance differences between 80386 and
68020 based SysV Unix when running very large programs.

Is there something inherent in the 386's on-board MMU that would cause slow
performance when randomly accessing a large memory space?

Thanks,
