AT&T SysV Problem

H E L P !!!

We've recently upgraded from an AT&T 3b5 to a 3b15. Ever since I
changed the system default umask in /etc/profile to 077 the sa1
shell script no longer writes to its data file in /usr/adm/sa. I
changed the umask to 007 in sa1 and sa2 and changed the protection
on the data files so that sys can write to them, but still it
doesn't work. Cron seems to be executing the job, but I notice
that "rc=1" is printed at the end of the line indicating termina-
tion of the task. Is this supposed to mean something? It doesn't
seem to be documented anywhere. (There's rather a lot that *isn't*
documented in AT&Ts manuals.)

I note that it I execute sa1 logged in as root everything works ok.
It's only when cron tries to do it that there's a problem. Does
anyone out there have an idea why this isn't working?????

Thanks,

(Oh, please respond by email as I don't normally read this
newsgroup.)
