How do I port TIOCNOTTY into SYSV.2

I'm trying to port some software that has the BSD ioctl() call using
TIOCNOTTY to Systems V.2.

My question is how do I disassociate the program from the terminal under
V.2 like under BSD? 

Will someone please help me with this simple problem?
