Setting up a remote printer

'morning... I'm having some difficulty setting up a remote printer between two
nodes on our network and am hoping someone else may have struggled with it
already. In this case the local node is a Sun 3/60 named (oddly enough) sun360
and the remote node (with the printer) is a MicroVAX II named nymph. Sun360 is
running SunOS version 3 and nymph is running Ultrix 2.3.

The printer on nymph is LAT printer but it behaves quite well when used locally
on nymph; I did everything the Ultrix doc set said to do. The printcap file
is:

   # @(#)printcap 3.2 (ULTRIX) 4/13/87
   lp0|lp|ln03b|laser printer on LAT:\
           :lp=/dev/tty04:\
           :ts=GUS:\
           :op=LN03B:\
           :sd=/usr/spool/lpd:\
           :if=/usr/lib/lpdfilters/ln03of:\
           :of=/usr/lib/lpdfilters/ln03of:\
           :pw#80:\
           :pl#66:\
           :lf=/usr/adm/lpd-errs:

Everything in the documentation leads me to believe that I can set up a queue
on the Sun to spool files via the queue on nymph, so I set it up; here is the
printcap from sun360:

   # # typical remote printer entry
   # ucbvax|vax|vx|ucbvax line printer:\
   # :lp=:rm=ucbvax:rp=lp0:sd=/usr/spool/vaxlpd:lf=/usr/adm/lpd-errs:
   lp0|lp|ln03b|Laser printer via Nymph:\
        :lp=:rm=nymph:lf=/usr/adm/lpd-errs:

However, when I lpr something on the sun360 it goes to the local queue fine but
nothing happens after that. A lpq command yields the following output:

   no entries

sun360: Warning: lp is down: waiting for queue to be enabled on nymph

   sun360: Warning: no daemon present
Rank Owner Job Files Total Size
   1st denis 5 .cshrc 44 bytes

Can anyone shed some light on the situation? Any pointers would be greatly
appreciated.

Denis
