Printer load sharing

Does BSD Unix, specifically SunOS 3.5 or 4.0, provide ways to 
spread load over more than one printer?  I want one printer
name to translate to (at first) one of two identical printers.

The _System_Administration_for_the_Sun_Workstation manual is
not helpful, neither is the man page for printcap/termcap.
