We have had great success connecting an AT&T 3B2 to a small
Phonenet group of Macs including a Laserwriter. The output
from the 3B2 which is mainly graphics output from the S
statistical package goes to the laserwriter. The S package
has special drivers for different output devices.

The program used is called Gatepost and can be obtained from Paul Menon
at RMIT, Melbourne, Australia (rcopm%yabbie.rmit.oz at uunet.uu.net - at
least that was the address in September 1987). It is distributed freely
as far as I can see.

The disadvantage is that you have to dedicate a Mac to Gatepost.
