Request for comments regarding BATCH facilities

I'm looking for any information regarding BATCH utilities or subsystems
under UNIX. In particular, comments regarding how a batch subsystem
should work; and packages in the public domain or available via purchase
will be appreciated.

warrants it, I'll summarize the responses to the net.
