I would guess that he hasn't looked hard enough.  At our site we have 3 Gould
PowerNode 9080's.  They are used for general office automation-type work.  
Machine configuartions are as follows:
Users	Disk Storage Capacity
-----	---------------------
257	2736 MB
631	4436 MB
748	4436 MB

These systems are working fine with these configurations.
