Lex/Yacc Ideas Sought

i'm not sure if this is the best place to post this, but i tried to
post to comp.compilers, but it's moderated and well uh you know...

i'll be TAing a compilers course next quarter, and i'm looking for
project ideas.  when i took the course 4 years or so ago, we wrote
a compiler for an Ada-like language called Eve (no generics, tasks,
etc.), and when the course was taught 7 years ago, the professor
had them write a compiler for C-, an almost-complete C implementation.

unfortunately, the curriculum is becoming more theoretical, hence the
drop in workload in the course.  this quarter, the professor (not the
same one as before) does not want to have the students write a compiler,
but instead do 4 or so "projects" utilising lex and yacc.  he wants the
students to realise that lex and yacc can be used for more than just
compilers, which is a good point, but i personally would still have them
write a compiler.

anyway, i was wondering if anyone out there had any ideas for these
projects.  if so, please *email* them to me, as i'm sure other netters
are not interested (if anyone is, send me mail and i will summarise).
Internet, Bitnet, and UUCP paths are included in my sig, and i know
