How to restore terminal after curses program crashes?

I do about the same thing, but with somewhat less effort.

In .profile,
	STTY=`stty-g` export STTY

In .login,
	setenv STTY `stty-g`

Then, after a scrambled screen,
	$stty^J
restores my prior settings.
