Problem with installation of TCP/IP in kernel

I am a very NEW user of UNIX and have a 386/25 running Interactive Unix
version 2.0.2.  I am having a problem installing the TCP/IP package.
I did the normal install through sysadm and then tried to do a kernel
configuration.  I received an error message back saying that :
ERROR: No Such Device 'lockd' in mdevice.
The configuration aborted aborted at this time.  I am using a WD 8003E 
as prescribed by Interactive.  I have another Unix box running just basic
Unix.  I plan to network these two systems together and leave the smaller
one on at all times as a communications server for the larger system.
I have not as yet tried to install TCP/IP in the smaller system.  I have
looked in the mdevice file in both systems and there is no lockd entry 
in either one.  This is also my first time that I have used news on my own
system.  I previously posted from a friend's system (his system is also my
feed).  If there is any one who can guide me in this matter I would 
appreciate any tip or help in this matter.
