ISC 2.2.1 - which C compilers do you use? Why?

I'm just starting to port lots of packages ot 2.2.1.   When building perl
4.0 I get these strange /lib/comp fatal errors, but if I restart the make
it succeeds.  The optimizer couldn't handle perl either.

What are the advatages/disadvantages of

1) the AT&T compiler
2) the LPI Ansi compiler
3) GNU compiler

on ISC unix?  Which do you use when, and why?  What problems have you
found?
