[ inode bug test program ]

A warning for ESIX users: I ran this test several months ago on my
ESIX system, wondering if their FFS had the missing inode bug. At
some point during the test (I think when the floppy file system ran
out of inodes) the system panicked. This is the only time I've ever
seen my system panic. I haven't tried running it again. I never saw
the missing inode problem occur under B or C news, and since the ESIX
FFS is based on the BSD file system rather than System V, I doubt
that it has the missing inode bug.

I sent email to Jeff Ellis at ESIX about the problem in July, but
never heard back from him.

Another note: the ESIX S51K (standard System V) file system does have
the missing inode bug.
