The reason for this is not the Driver itself.
Get a copy of the GNU tar. I usually do backups with the following
command line.

tar -l -b 100 -cf /dev/ct usr

The -l option tells GNU tar to only backup one filesystem.
The -b 100 option tells GNU tar to allocat 100 x 512 Byte Buffers.
Now the streamer does what his name says - It streams.
