Can't go multiuser

Well, I ran into one that's got me stumped.

Last nite, I powered my machine (Tandy 5000, a PS2 Mod 80 clone) off for the
first time in about 4 weeks. I added a second IBM Dual Async board to
the system, bringing the total number of serial boards in my machine to
5 (1 on the motherboard and 2 each on 2 Async boards).

I rebooted SCO ODT (1.0.1, I don't beleive that SCO has v1.1 available
yet for Microchannel) and came up fine in single user.
The hardware report now says that I have 1 serial devices, 1 with 1 port
and the other with 4 ports. When I try to take it multiuser, it
rattles the disk for a second or two and then hangs. The console will echo
characters, but no processing occurs. The only way out that I've discovered
is a power off reboot. At first, I suspected that init was getting hung
up on the new serial board, so I pulled out all the serial devices but
/dev/tty1a - still no luck.

Another strange thing also happened, my system name has been changed back to
'scosysv', and uname -S doesn't seem to 'stick' accross a reboot.

Any ideas or suggestions would be much appreciated. I'm gonna try pulling
the extra board out tonite and see if that solves the problem at least
temporarily.
