Question about Ultrix 2.2 patch tape

We have a little microvax II running Ultrix 2.2.  We have a problem
with our terminal multiplexors.  Normally we reboot perfectly OK, then
after a while we notice a getty running continuously.  Soon other
gettys join in until the load average reaches about 7 when the machine
crashes.  This happens maybe every 20 mins.

We solved the problem by switching off all terminal lines except 6 which
we knew were connected to tty's as we suspected that there was some problem with
terminal lines that didn't have terminals on them.  This problem didn't
exist under Ultrix 1.2A

The machine can now run for a week without crashing.

I heard that there was a patch tape for Ultrix 2.2 at some time in the
past.  Does it address any problems with terminal mutliplexors (dhu0 and dhu1)?
What does it cost for us poor people who bought Ultrix 2.2 and don't
have software update.
