SLIP in 4.1 on 5810?

Is there anybody with a running SLIP on 58x0 with ULTRIX 4.x?

Our SLIP did run in 3.1, but in 4.1 slattach finishes immediately
after starting it (or after the login dialog, when configured as a master).
