putting RZxx into synchronous mode

Sorry to bug the net with this, but I most the "rzdisk -c ask /dev/rzxc"
instructions for changing a RZxx (RZ56 & RZ57 specifically) into synchronous
mode. My understanding is that the RZs are shipped in async mode and that
switching it to synch mode will speed things up. This is for an Informix
database on a DECsystem 3100 Ult 4.0.

I wished to spare the net, so I called Atlanta and asked them, but about as far
as we got was me assuring them that there is indeed a thing called synchronous
SCSI mode and explaining what it is. They tried explaining how to do
synchronous file writes, and I explained that that was something quite
different. Those I've talked to have tried to be helpful, but thus far no luck.

Anyway, if somebody could send me the info (or tell Atlanta -- for inquiring
minds inside DEC, ref # A910516-2585) I would appreciate it.

Thanks,
Stefan Brandle
