4.2BSD compact <> System V pack..Help!

Hello,

     I have a large file that was mailed to me in compacted form
using the compact/uncompact commands in 4.2BSD.  Unfortunately, I am
on a system running System V Release 2, and the analogous command
pack/unpack, doesn't seem to do the job.  Does anyone know where I
might be able to get something to uncompact the file?  Please mail
