How do *you* identify terminals?

Maybe I should expound a bit more.  We have no way of identifying
terminals wrt ports - everything, including dial-ins are on a hunting
local area network (Sytek LocalNet/20) - so there is no way to
identify the terminal in this manner.  Now what?
