In the October issue of "UNIX Review" there is an interview
with George Goble on the subject of UNIX security.
He says he found a bug that lets anyone "get root" on any
post-System III version of the UNIX system.

Since we develop the UNIX system for the Sperry-1100
mainframes, we would like to find out about this problem.
If anyone knows what George was talking about (or if George
is reading this), please contact me by MAIL or PHONE (collect).
Do not post the answer to the net! If you don't trust
me, then mail the answer to u1100a!root which I will read.
Even if you don't know the exact answer it would help to know
the area in which to look (e.g., the echo command, or the getpid
system call).
