The demonstration availability of the Celerity C1200 has ended. If
there is sufficient interest I could sumarize the commments received to
the net (if yours aren't in you might rocket them off to me).
Basically, the comments so far are that the compiler is very slow,
which is admitted my the manufacturer. They claim to have invested
effort in having it produce good (ie, correct, and fast) code, with
speed-up to follow. (There were no complaints about bugs in the compiler
from any correspondents, so far.)

Execution speed of compiled code seems quite good. One cpu intensive
fortran floating point job ran about 3X our vax 11/780 (w/fpa). Other
types of jobs did less well (reports were from 1.5 X SUN to 2X a vax
11/780), and the amount of "less well" seemed to be related to amount
of i/o performed. The system was equipped with two 120 MB scsi
winchesters.

If you have comments you wish included in the summary on this
demonstration please send them along, quickly.
