Help with Telebit?

I need help setting up a Telebit T2000 on a Vax 11/750 running 4.3BSD.
I received the telebit dialer and rebuilt uucico, uucp, etc.  Now it works
on occasion, but not very often.  I receive either TIMEOUT or ACU LINE CLOSE.

Any pointers or tips would be greatly appreciated.
