The SIGTTOU signal from the remote login

I am adding some C shell script in the .profile for the front end communication server machine(AT&T 3B2/System V), so that when users dial up by modem 
there is a menu to allow users to choose any one of the minicomputers 
on campus. The abort occurs when users access the Pyramid/Unix via rlogin in 
the .profile (on the server machine).
SIGTTOU signal causes disconnection. (background write attempted to control terminal). Can anyone out there help me regarding this? I appreciate it.  Please
